For the last 20 years, Murphy has been writing and performing as a founding member of the multi-platinum band Sugar Ray. Sugar Ray got a record deal in 1994 after they self-financed an independent music video. Shot by their friend McG (his first music video) on 35mm film, the video was a risky move by an unknown band that showed they understood not only the power of music, but the power of putting music to images. This fact was not lost on Murphy. In the mid 90’s when the band was on tour, he picked up his first Nikon film camera and became entranced by creating images through a lens. From 9 world tours, 10 million records sold, and countless TV appearances including MTV, VH1, The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Conan O’Brien and the Jon Stewart Show, Murphy has taken these invaluable experiences with Sugar Ray and the people he has met and is transforming that into an energy for photography and video production. He has appeared in 12 music videos with his band and two

feature films. Although he continues to tour and make records with Sugar Ray, he now shares that passion with his desire to create compelling photographs and video content. Murphy lives in Costa Mesa, CA with his wife and three sons.
